Hunter Hawes
Hunter Hawes is a Minneapolis-based artist and printmaker working at the intersection of street art, community action, and personal recovery. After purchasing a professional wide-format printer at a liquidation auction, he began rapidly producing posters and placing them throughout the city in response to escalating federal immigration enforcement. A recovered addict himself, Hawes keeps the work grounded in direct human impact. Print sales support specific individuals rather than organizations — helping fund safe housing for a young woman avoiding an abusive relationship and providing extra income for a couple in recovery raising a one-year-old child. Hawes treats art as both a public presence and a practical tool for helping others avoid the kinds of impossible decisions he once faced.
